LEARNING TO LISTEN TO THE HOLY SPIRIT!
July 8, 2010

Nothing can replace the leading of the Holy Spirit in soul-winning. He knows people's hearts, and He is at work to bring conviction. Jesus said of the Holy Spirit, "And when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment" ( John 16:8 ). If we will daily yield ourselves to the Holy Spirit, He will prompt us to witness when we might be tempted to pass by.

The Holy Spirit will lead you to stay longer at a door, to move along when it isn't the right time to speak, He will prompt you at just the right moment on who to speak with and what to say. I have had many occasions through the years when I was prompted to go to a certain home or speak to a certain person and as I obeyed I found out that person had been seeking answers. It was my privilege to show them the answer ( Jesus) to all their questions.

Who is waiting for you? Will you listen when the Holy Spirit tells you to do something that may be uncomfortable or a little fearful? Some people are ready to be saved right now, while others will need a persistent witness willing to return each time the Spirit commands.

The Bible tells us, "Quench not the Spirit" ( 1st Thess 5:19 ). God will lead us if we listen. He knows who is ready, but we must be willing to listen and obey.

Oh Pastor, did you write todays blog for me? (jk) I have been praying that I become more bold in my witnessing to others and I have to admit that this is an area that I am uncomfortable and somewhat fearful of. I am trying to leave tracks when out and about and sending them in the mail when paying bills. I have given Bob and Bob a list of family members that are on my heart and my assignment is to pray for Bob and Bob while they are out. These two men are precious soul winners for the Lord. :) This is what I wrote in my journal for today - As I go about my everyday life I hope I am spreading light into this dark world. May others see Christ within me. May Christ be pleased with choices I make and smile down upon me. May I listen to His voice and always be teachable. I do know Lord that You are the Light within my soul. Amen :)

"And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption." (Eph. 4:30) God's Holy Spirit dwells within every believer. As Christians, when you grieve me, do you grieve God? When I hurt you, do I hurt God? Why wouldn't this be true? When I comfort you and love you, am I then also loving my Father in Heaven? "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." (Mt. 25:40) "Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." (Eph. 4:32) All throughout the Bible, God tells us to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. Love your spouse, parents, kids, family, church family, extended family, neighbor, love the unlovely, love the stranger, love our enemies and those who despise us... WOW! Not humanly possible you say! That is where the Holy Spirit comes in because it is not humanly possible to love at all times. Yet, this is how GOD loves, unconditional, AGAPE, super human LOVE. When we tap into God's love via His Holy Spirit, we can love with His love. This is done by yielding to the Holy Spirit. What a great gift the Holy Spirit is to us. We have a helper. We are never alone. Ever see the little dolls from Germany? One doll fits inside another, that fits inside another, that fits inside another. Jesus said, "At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you." (John 14:20) I agree with our Blogmeister! The Holy Spirit helps us answer every man when he asks of the hope that is within us. "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" (1Pet. 3:15) The Holy Spirit prepares the heart of the person, leads us to the person, gives us the words to say, and saves the person when they believe and repent. Don't think that we have much to do with it except be a tool in the Master's hand. Yet, in order for the tool to work in its greatest capacity, the tool must die to self, put its own will on a back burner. The tool (say it is a lawn mower) must not choose its own path to mow, it must allow the person who is mowing to direct its path. The lawn mower must yield to the person pushing/riding it. When we yield our will to the Holy Spirit we are tapping in to God's great power. This power works for soul winning, preaching, comforting, counseling, and daily living. Makes for a very EASY yoke and LIGHT burden. The Holy Spirit does the work and we come along for the ride. ~~~Trust and obey, for there's no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.~~~ -CB
