Monday Report!
July 12, 2010

It is Monday and is nearly 8 p.m. What a weekend and what a Monday. Very full and very productive for the Lord. We spent much of the weekend beginning Friday in interviewing a Pastoral candidate. R.T. Stringer and his wife Karen along with their three girls were with us from Friday until after Sunday evening service. Their three girls are, Emma (5), Olivia (4), and Annabelle (2). It was great getting to know them better and letting them get to know myself, our staff, the deacons and then on Sunday the entire congregation. Please pray for the leadership as we attempt to find God's will in Pastor Ryan's replacement. We will attempt to keep you posted to all developments.  Our services were wonderful in the morning. We spoke on "Why Would Anyone Believe The Bible?" Then again last night in our service we returned to this message and preached part two. Last evening the auditorium was packed, with many visitors and the Lord spoke to all present. Decisions were made by many to stick with God's Word and begin to do all they can to tell others why they also can trust God's Book the Bible. Hopefully tomorrow we will have both morning and evening messages online so those who were unable to be with us can listen as well. Maybe you could invite someone to listen. Just encourage them to visit www.libertyfamily.org and go to resources and click sermons. It is really easy and what a wonderful way to help people as well as introduce them to our church.

For each of our Liberty family we want to encourage you to pray today for Everett Steely and Perry Frank. These men stand in need of us to pray specific for them today and tomorrow. Perry has to stay in the St. Vincent hospital until Saturday. Everett is home but in much need of the Lord's strength. Also continue to pray for Alice Payne as she recuperates from surgery. Many others in our church stand in the need of prayer as well.

I will attempt to blog early tomorrow so hope you will check in and when you do make sure to make a comment. It is always interesting and helpful to read your comments even when you may disagree. Discussion and debate is healthy and truth can handle it. Amen!

I am sad to hear Pastor Ryan will be leaving. But my best wishes are with him and his family. And my prayers are with those who are ill and hope they get better soon. God Bless

Good morning everyone! Time for tea and coffee! I wrote the following on Friday AM while waiting for Friday's blog to appear, but there was no new blog on Friday, so I am posting it early on Tuesday morning on the late new Monday blog. Are you as confused as I am? LOL

The Lord woke me this Friday morning at 2:45AM. I felt nudged to read a book called "Son of Hamas" that I just picked up the day before. Published by Tyndale, it is a biography of a Muslim man who grew up in the Middle East. His father was the founder of Hamas, a radical Islamic terrorist group which now wields great power in Gaza and influences many Arab nations in efforts against Israel. By 6:00AM, I have nearly half of the book finished because it is so interesting. This gentleman named Mosab Hassan Yousef, aka Joseph, describes in layman's terms the reasons for the turmoil in Israel and surrounding nations. He does this initially from the eyes of a teenager who has been taken prisoner by Israelis. His father had been thrown in jail many times in the same way. He begins the book by saying, "To my beloved father and my wounded family, To the victims of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, To every human life my Lord has saved." He adds later, "I could have been a hero and made my people proud of me...Instead, I became a traitor in the eyes of my people." I read ahead to find out that this Muslim became a Christian! PTL! I can't wait to read how all of this came about. It is commonly known that once a Muslim converts to Christianity, he becomes a lethal target of Islamic radicals. When I finally put the book down, I went online and Googled "Mosab Hassan Yousef". This is what came up on a website: "Yousef, the eldest son of Hamas founder Sheikh Hassan Yousef, became a Christian some time back after being given a Gospel tract in Jerusalem by a London taxi driver who was on vacation in the Holy Land." http://www.assistnews.net/Stories/2010/s10070006.htm WOW! Did you see that? A GOSPEL tract!!! PTLx777! I can't stop smiling! Let's keep dropping tracts everywhere the Holy Spirit leads. An online news article reports that "Joseph" has been granted asylum in the USA on June 30, 2010 and is in San Diego, California. I recommend this book to everyone. It is on the bestseller list. What a great witness for Jesus Christ! On the other hand, attempting to be a discerning, cautious person, I also remember 911 and the current blatant agenda of Hamas, Hezbullah, Al Qaeda, Taliban, et al. I have to admit that I am struggling with this Christian's asylum admission into the USA. I can't help but think: Trojan horse. Perhaps it would have been wiser to encourage Yousef to seek asylum in another country. Why America, for instance, all things considered? As grandma used to say, "The proof is in the pudding!" and "Time will tell." Praying about this situation. "Wise as serpents, harmless as doves." -CB
