CARRY YOUR CROSS NOT YOUR FLESH!
March 31, 2009
Good Tuesday to each of you! Last night I went home and worked outside till dark. I love the time change as it allows you to be out longer. We have lot's to do since winter has left a mess in our yard, and for those of you who know how large my yard is you know that is a lot to take care of. Karen & I enjoy it , and it provides much needed exercise. Last eve we raked and I worked on my John Deere mower plus worked on a sump pump problem. Finally had to go in it was past 8:30 and was getting dark. I have been using our treadmill each evening. I walk/run 2.4 mile in 30 minutes which is about 4.5 miles an hour. I have been doing this for around a month now and usually do it in the eve but last night was just to tired so I got up this morning and did it . I was finished with my 2 miles in 17 minutes. Now I am getting a little faster and my stamina is improving. It works that way in the physical realm and the spiritual real as well. As I was walking/ running this morning I didn't turn the Television on but I spent the time praying. In fact most of the time I was just "CRYING OUT" to my Lord. I just cried "LORD HELP ME", "LORD HELP MY FRIENDS", "LORD HELP OUR SICK", "LORD HELP THE AFFLICTED". Just a desperate cry from one who needs HIM in every area of life. As I was working physically I was beginning to shed drops of water from all over my body. But at the same time, as I was working spiritually I began to shed water fro my eyes. As I was making desperate cries to the Lord for myself, my family, my friends, my congregation, the world, tears began to form and fall. Now you may say that sure doesn't seem like fun. May I tell you it is exhilarating, it energizes, it sets free, and empowers you to shed the "Flesh". The "Flesh" is what is enslaving us, it is slowing us down , it makes us sluggish, it paralyzes us, it is a thief which sucks us dry of all energy and potential. We must learn to slay the flesh, say no to the flesh, crucify the flesh, put it to death early every day, and many times throughout the day. We may think our problem is something or someone else. But the real problem is our flesh. May each of us say yes to the Spirit and no to the flesh more often. Hope yours is a day that you choose to carry your cross, instead of your flesh!
TOGETHER WE HAVE- TOGETHER WE CAN!
March 30, 2009
It is Monday morning the 30th of March. I am in my office early and it is very quiet, I love it! Yesterday we had good services both in the morning and evening. We had 4 baptisms in our morning services, that is always a blessing to see. Last eve we had Pastor Click and others who went on the missions trip to Nigaraugra give their testimonies and it was evident that the Lord did a great work in their hearts. I also took about 10 minutes to share some very important decisions which we have just recently made along with our deacons. Decisions can be very difficult unless you spend lots of time in prayer. But if you pray and lean on the Lords leading, wait on Him to reveal His way, it becomes much more simple. The tricky part to decisions for any leader is how will the followers respond to the decision. Now that is the real work! How to get people on board with the plan of God. And again guess what you need to do? Pray again. Yes you will need to talk with many and explain, communication is the key , yet it will take God to speak to the followers heart and convince them of His plans. So today I am spending time in prayer for all our people to have a work in their hearts from God. It has worked in the past and will work today. God is the one who leads ultimately. As you study the great leaders in the Bible this is how it worked also. Moses, David, Samuel, Paul and many more had to resort to such leadership skill. "Unless the Lord build the house those that labor labor in vain." Today I am thankful for the Lord and that He still has a plan and a work for this church on this corner. And that their are many who are as interested in that plan as I am. Thanks for the many who made special effort to be here last evening because you are interested in the future of this church. "TOGETHER WE HAVE- TOGETHER WE CAN."
SOWING THE SEED
March 26, 2009
Hope your Thursday is going well! I got to the office this morning before 7 a.m. and took care of a few things, then met two of my brothers in Marion at 7:15 a.m.. Mike, Chuck and myself along with Sharon, Chucks daughter went to Ft. Wayne's VA hospital to see our dad as he is in very serious condition. He is 83 years old and life seems to be leaving him slowly. It is something that just happens isn't it? We spoke with him for a few hours and we three brothers spoke directly about life after death. Dad has been saved and assured us he was trusting in Jesus. We have had these talks before but at this time they were so much more serious. Now he has gotten well enough to send home and he may have many more days, months or even years, but in his own words; "Jesus will come as a thief in the night" and "You better be ready." Yesterday we spoke with my mother on the phone for 15-20 minutes as she is not feeling well. She will soon be 80 years of age. The last couple days has reminded me again what it is all about. Really the most important thing in life is to be ready for the day we leave this world. Everything else pales in importance to this one thing, are we ready to meet the Lord I hope you are , I hope your loved ones are, and I hope you are doing all you can to help others know the way. While we were visiting dad in the hospital my brother Chuck began visiting the vet who was in the bed across the way. He spoke with him the longest time and lots stories were shared and I could hear and see laughter. They were friends in a short time. After about 20 minutes I heard Chuck ask him if he was a Christian and if he knew the Lord. The Korean War vet said he thought so! Chuck gave him the gospel and the man said he believed that. About that time the doctor came in the room and we were diverted to his visit. We stayed a while longer and listened to stories of the past from dad a WW2 vet and this Korean War vet. Then we had prayer with both men and prayed the gospel again, and asked that each would be in heaven because they trusted in Christ payment on Calvary. Before leaving we gave the one man a tract and he was reading it as we left. Pray for this man , his name is Jim ! It was a joy to spend 5 hours with my brothers who are now walking with the Lord. We prayed for them for over 25 years to come to surrender to the Lord and to see it and enjoy it is one of life's greatest blessings for this preacher. Hope to see all you LIBERTYITES in church tonight. HAve a great day!!!
HELP SOMEONE'S RAINY DAY
March 25, 2009
Good Wednesday to each of you. It is raining in Northeast Indiana this morning. Driving to the office this morning was more difficult because of the rain. As I was praying and driving and was having a little difficulty seeing and driving the thought came to me that many people are having it rain on them in some way other than real rain drops. Now I am not a weather forecaster but I imagine some are having a "Rainy Day". Perhaps they are having a financial rain, or a physical rain. Maybe a relational rain, or and emotional rain. Perhaps it is just sprinkling or for some it's really pounding down. But life is more difficult and they need a little sunshine in their life on this day. As we move from place to place and person to person this day may each of us be observant to see if those we come in contact are traveling through rain. And if they are let's seek ways we can brighten their roadway. Ask the Lord to give you the ability to lift some of the load off a brother or sister. It will help them and guess what? It will help lift your load also.
LOVEST THOU ME????
March 24, 2009
Good morning ! It is Tuesday March 24th. Sorry I haven't blogged since last Thursday. My computer was in the shop from Friday till yesterday. I tried to use another computer yesterday but for some reason I could not receive access to our blog server on another computer. So finally here we are. I know many have checked just yesterday over 70 new hits were recorded and over the weekend many more than that have checked in. I would have given you a heads up but didn't know the computer was going in when it did. We had a good weekend of services and ministry. We had 85 people attend our Prayer Breakfast and Gospel Blitz on Saturday. Many teams went out to our community and shared the gospel. Pastor Chas reported to us that over the last 6-7 years we have taken the gospel to every door in every town and city in our community at least 2 times and some 3 times. I know I will be happy about that when we see Jesus face to face. Thanks to all thru the years who have participated in our gospel blitz's. Also thanks to all who stayed behind and prayed. Without prayer power it would not be possible ! "Little Prayer little power, much prayer much power." Another thanks to all who came early to set up and prepare breakfast. PTL for faithful servants. Folk who are not apathetic and negative but people who have a heart to serve and sacrifice if needed to help God's kingdom move forward. Sunday morning we spoke on Believing and used Thomas as our example. Lord help each of us to Believe and put shoe leather to our belief. On Sunday eve we spoke on Loving Jesus and used Peter as an example. This morning I have already heard the words from my Savior, "Terry DO YOU LOVE ME"? I have already answered "LORD YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU BUT I NEED TO LOVE YOU BETTER." Don't you want to love the Lord more and more each day. I have also heard the Lord say "TERRY IF YOU LOVE ME , TEND TO MY SHEEP." If I really want to love Jesus I need to be caring about what Jesus cares about. If I love the shepherd, i will love what the heart of the shepherd loves." God loves people and if I am to properly love God I must love people also. Love them when it is easy to do so and love them when it is difficult. What a PROBING QUESTION Jesus asked Peter as he asks us today. What a PAINFUL REPLY Peter gave to Jesus! He didn't try to cover up his sin, he agreed with Jesus and confessed , I really don't love you like I should. His confession was filled with an attitude of repentance and crying out for help to change the situation. I want to love you, LORD help me! Isn't that the cry of our hearts today? It is mine! Lord help me to love you!! Help me Lord to love you as you deserve. And when we get that Love from God it empties us of ourselves and frees us to live for Christ and others. Then and only then will our lives be free to serve and tend to others. OH HOW WE NEED SET FREE FROM OURSELVES ! And the way to be set free is to love Jesus! To love Jesus! To love Jesus! I cannot tell you how all that works, how to love yourself less and Jesus more. But I know it begins with seeing Jesus and what He has done for you. It begins with seeing our sin and His cross. It is in seeing His love for us and seeing His grace for us. Then it continues with asking the Lord by faith to help us empty ourselves as we seek Him. Lord help me!! Lord help me!! Help me to love you like I should , help me to see why I should love you and help me to seek to love you as I should. Desperately seek Him to empty yourself. Only misery waits for the selfish , self willed person. Only sadness, only sorrow, only guilt, only loneliness. But as we love Jesus and serve Jesus true fulfillment , true peace, true confidence in Christ. Jesus knows today those who love Him, those who want to love Him more, those whose genuine motive of service is because they are totally in love with the Lover of their soul, JESUS!
IF WE WOULD GET TO THE CROSS MORE WE WOULDN'T BE SO CROSS
March 19, 2009
It is Thursday AFTER noon! For you readers who check early in the morning sorry you missed me this morning. I have been in study since 7:30 a.m. and it is now 1:30 p.m. I can hear some of you say wow that is a long time. Not really when it comes to all the hours we spend doing other things. Last eve I spent about an hour in study at home until my mind grew weary and at about 8:30 I stopped and popped some popcorn and watched HGTV with Karen for a little time then we were able to go to sleep a little earlier than normal. This morning I got to the office and came back to last nights study. I was studying about Jesus' Death and all about the cross. Because I was in the study I went ahead and prepared March 29th Sundays messages. I will preach in both services that day a two part message entitled "Because He Died." I have just spent 7 hours reviewing and surveying the cross and the death of Jesus. PTL for the wondrous cross! PTL for His payment for our sins. PTL for His love for mankind. May I suggest "IF WE WOULD GET TO THE CROSS MORE WE WOULDN'T BE SO CROSS." Think about it!!! Perhaps you could do your own study on the death of Jesus, I think you would find it helpful. Hope to see each of you tonight at Midweek service.
COME- COMFORT -CONFRONT- CONVICT- CHANGE & COMMISSION
March 18, 2009
If I take a day off during the week it is usually on Wednesday but today I have come to the office early because I have some pressing things which need taken care of and cannot wait. So I have decided to blog and if it works out I will attempt to take Friday off and not blog on that day. Sometimes things just don't go the way we plan. I am one for detail, plans, and schedules. Yet so often they are interrupted and changed. Aren't you so thankful today that our God is so great that He has plans and schedules that will be fulfilled and never changed. We really do serve a mighty God and I want to praise His name today! I have been studying John 20 & 21 the last several weeks. Most of the disciples are found there but three in particular, Mary Magdalene, Thomas and Peter. We are looking with emphasis on "Living in the Light of the Resurrection." Each time in each passage with these three we see our resurrected savior Coming to them, Comforting them, Confronting them, Convicting them, Changing them and Commissioning them. I am so thankful today that Jesus is so faithful to come to us even after we have failed Him and always when we are struggling to believe. He comes to us, He comforts us, He confronts us, He convicts us, He changes us, He commissions us, PTL. He would not have to come, to comfort, to confront, o convict to change, to commission. So many like the Comfort part but not the confrontation and conviction part. Some say when the confrontation and conviction start that it is legalism but really it is love. God's love, God's promise that He would send the Holy Spirit into the world and that the Holy Spirit would CONVICT the world of sin, of righteousness, and of the judgment to come. When Jesus came to Mary Magdalene, Thomas, Peter, it was to help but they needed moved from despair & unbelief to belief and courage. He wanted to change them but first they need to see there true condition. It seems to me that much of Christianity in the America of our days is so weak and frail and filled with themselves that they resist Jesus when He comes to the point of conviction and confrontation. They are so touchy and sensitive they say I just can't take such a thought or that is negative and I just cant take that. They say often that is legalism but in reality it is love. But without conviction we will never change. Thank God He knows how to comfort us in just the right ways but He will get to the convicting, that is unless someone is already perfect and not in need of correction, and we all know there are none of us like that. How bad do we want to change? So much that we say thanks Lord for coming to my personal life, thanks Lord for your comfort but also THANKS for your continued confrontations and convictions you put on me! Change me oh Lord and Commission me, send me as you sent the SON. That is my prayer, my desire, my life goal on this Wednesday and hopefully for the rest of my days. And I hope "The Rest of My LIfe is The Best of My Life" , as I change for His glory in the future more than in the past.
MAKING COMMENTS TO GOD
March 17, 2009
It is Tuesday morning and I am typing blind, because i forgot my glasses at home. I can't see real well so if you see something missssspelled just keep on reading and guess at the words. On our blog we have been receiving a few more comments lately. I love getting comments on what we have written. It helps me to know someone is reading and someone is thinking about what has been written. It also shows there is an interest. As I was thinking about this it came to my mind that it would be a good think to do when we read God's Word. When we read something God has said and had written down for us perhaps we should make some comments. Perhaps and amen of agreement, a thanks for the advice, maybe a request for some clarity, or a question. Now I know our Lord knows everything including our inner thoughts. He knows who is reading and how the written words are affecting the reader, because he knows everything. But like this blogger when we write something and a comment comes my way I enjoy that. Perhaps it helps me more as I am human and don't know all things and the only way I will know my readers thoughts is for them to share them, but none the less I believe the Lord loves to have us respond to Him.
Don't forget to share the gospel with someone today! And don't forget to pray for our seven men who are in Nicaraugra on the missions trip. It is supposed to be a beautiful day in our part of the country so get out and enjoy it a little if you can. Have a great day!
IT IS NEVER A WASTE OF TIME TO WAIT ON THE LORD
March 16, 2009
It is Monday morning and got to the office about 7:15 and I have had my two pieces of toast with peanut butter & jelly. Just took my first sip of coffee and now we are ready to get moving into God's work for us today. I love this time of the day. No one is here yet it is quiet and peaceful. That will change as the day proceeds and we will be glad that it does as others will join in the work but for now it is just Jesus and myself. Yesterday we had great Lord's day services. We had over 700 in morning service attendance and 1 saved. Last evening we had over 300 in attendance and had many at the altar. At the end of the service we had special prayer for those going on the missions trip to Nigaraugra. We also prayed and anointed Sam Fowler who has been very ill for some time and Mike Jarvis who has kidney failure and is in need of a kidney donation and transplant. Last evening Jerry Collins preached for us and the Lord really used him greatly. We have known Jerry for 36 years. He is a choice missionary who loves the Lord with all his heart. Our church put them up in a nice hotel where they spent a few nice evenings together and presented them a very nice basket of goodies. The we received a love offering for them that amounted to nearly $700. It is fun to be a blessing to others and to help God's kingdom march forward. Yesterday morning we spoke fro John 20 on "Waiting on Jesus" and if you were not here I would encourage you to listen to this message online or get the CD. I think it is worth listening to several times. It's truth has helped me immensely. The longer Mary waited the stronger she got. She got so strong that she could actually go and minister to those who had deserted her and who had let her down tremendously. Remember this "IT IS NEVER A WASTE OF TIME TO WAIT ON THE LORD." Hope you spend some time today praying for those on the missions trip today, they will be in the air many hours. Also lift up Mike Jarvis and Sam Fowler along with many others.
A NEW CASE!!!
March 13, 2009
It is hard to believe it is Friday already. The days and weeks seem to go faster and faster. Life is fast. The Bible is so true ' "Life is a vapor it appeareth for a short time and then vanisheth away'. We had a good midweek service last evening, and for all who availed themselves to it much was gleaned for eternity. Now we are gearing up for Sunday services. Hope each of you stay faithful to your church. We live in the end times with lots of distractions which if allowed will become the norm instead of the exception. If we forsake assembly at first it is just for this time or this event, and in time it becomes the habit of your life, you and your family will suffer and of course the church on this earth is weakened. Think about it!
Today I have much to do. I need to prepare for our Deacon Fellowship in the morning and many other things. I also need to take my computer to an office machine business in Kokomo. I have owed a MacBook for a little over 9 months and the case is coming undone already. It is where the palm of my right hand sits and clicks and types. It has a flaw in the case and from the sliding of my hand has begun to chip away some of the casing. I called Apple the other day and they said that many have had this problem. Just take it to this certain place and they will put a new case on it. So today I will try to get it done so I will have my computer for next week. Don't you wish it was that easy when you have stiff finger or a growth on your body, just take it in and get another case. When you loose hair, just go in and get another case. When you can't hear as well just go get a new case. You get the point. We can't always solve our problems with our bodies in this life. Modern medicine has come along way but there is much that when the case gets broke we just have to keep using it. It doesn't look as nice, it doesn't work as well as it did when it was brand new but we must find a way to keep it going, to keep typing out life. 2nd Corinthians 4:16 says "For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day." Like my little computer we will get a NEW CASE someday, maybe today! But until then we need to work with what we have, use a little duct tape if needed and find a way to serve our Lord with what He has given until He gives us a new case. Hope your day is a wonderful Christ filled one.
AVAILING YOURSELVES TO THE AVAILABLE
March 12, 2009
It is Thursday morning and we are getting ready for tonight's service. As always there is a lot of preparation and effort that goes into every service at church. Our new electives begin this evening and we have 5 electives to choose from and I am sure that many hours have been put forth by the teachers in study and prayer. Today we will have set up of the classrooms, handouts for the lessons will be typed and copied. Awana leaders will be preparing, bus workers will arrive early to go pick up little boy's and girl's. Teen workers will be preparing and Yams leaders will be getting ready to connect tonight for the Lord. The kitchen staff will be preparing our evening meal and others will come to set up for this time of fellowship. These and a host of other things will be done in prepartory work so that we can assemble together to study and prosper in the Lord's kingdom. And praise God many will be here to enjoy and prosper from all that is offered. BUT if it is like any other service time there will be many who will not avail themselves to the help offered. Now some may have a legitimate excuse and they normally take advantage of all that is offered but for others it just boils down to a choice of not taking advantage of all help offered. All the effort that went into the evening for their benefit will be for nothing because they plainly chose not to see it's importance and rejected its potential in their life. Now for those who have a part in the work we cannot get discouraged and say well they don't want it so we will quit. No, we must continue to provide the help for those who will receive it. It reminds me of all that the Lord has provided for us on a daily basis, it is available, He has prepared and offers it to whoever will take it and apply it to their life. He offers forgiveness, salvation, His Word, answers, direction, grace, strength, principles to live by and so much more. Often these things are rejected and not availed. Yet God provide and they are there for the taking. Only foolish people would not avail God's Work for themselves and their families. In Noah's day God sent a man and His family to prepare an ark of safety, provision, salvation, direction and guess what, no one came to church, no one came to his elective, no one came to his meal or his prayer meeting. No one listened to his prepared sermons that he preached week after week, yet he prepared and preached and built for another day. The point is do what we are doing because it is right, because God told us to . Praise the Lord we still see many who do avail what is offered. But we may see less and less if these are the end times. Parents, servants, preachers, teachers, soul winners, prayer warriors, councilors, al who are serving the Lord and living for another day, keep offering your services to people but remember your ultimate service is to your Commanding Officer, the Rewarder of your Faith. The King of Kings and Lord of Lords. See all of you tonight who plan to avail what is offered unless providentially hindered.
If You Woke Up This Morning God Still Has A Plan For Your Life
March 10, 2009
It is early on Tuesday March 10th and I am in one of my favorite places at one of my favorite times. I am in my office with the lights down low a bit and no one is here except myself and the LORD! He has reminded me that " If I woke up this morning and I am still here -He still has a plan for my life." On my way to the office I was thinking about all that I need to accomplish in the next few days, all that is on my docket. Then the thought came to me that I needed to work on my attitude, my outlook. Much depends on our outlook! I could become negative and down because I had so much to do, or I could be thankful that the Lord counts me worthy to accomplish so many things. "Attitude affects Altitude", "Out look affects Outcome" no doubt about it. If we choose the positive outlook it will make life sweeter, if we choose the negative outlook life will become mostly bitter. If we choose the attitude that the glass is half full it will make give life purpose and motivation to work and fill life with better things. If we choose to see the glass as half empty it will discourage us and we will be tempted to say what is the use , I will just quit on life and let what is going to happen, happen. One way to gain a better attitude is to start your day out in a quiet place with just you and the Lord. Let Him help with your outlook. Pull away from this world and let Him pull you into His world. A world where you see from a better perspective! He will whisper encouragements, and exhortations for the day. You will be ready to take on the problems and difficulties because now you see them as opportunities for the Lord to solve and turn them into great victories. Remember this today-- "GLANCE AT YOUR PROBLEMS AND GAZE AT THE LORD", and "WE'RE TOO BLESSED TO BE STRESSED."
For all you Liberty folk we will begin our new electives this Thursday, a great lineup of connective, instructive classes are available. Also this Sunday I will be preaching a message entitled "Waiting on Jesus." I will be speaking from John 20 on lessons on how to WAIT. Waiting is difficult but oh the blessings when we learn to do so. Next Sunday I will be preaching a message on "Heavenly Reasons for Earthly Endurance." Get the word out and let's be faithful to church. Have a great day!
Weekend Report
March 9, 2009
Good Monday to each of you. This past Friday Karen and I traveled to Lafayette and picked up our youngest daughter Rachel and her fiance Chris and traveled to St. Louis to spend the weekend with with Chris' parents Jon & Debbie Bruns along with Adam Chris' younger brother. Saturday was Rachel's birthday and a wedding shower was also planned for Rachel at the Brun's home church Cross Keys Baptist. It was a restful and pleasant drive on Friday as we enjoyed being with Rachel & Chris. We arrived around 5 in the evening and enjoyed talking and having pizza. Later that night our other daughters Beth, Abby & Megan {around 9}. It was wonderful to get to know Chris' family better and seeing them in their home setting. Chris has had a great upbringing in good Christian environment with dedicated Christian parents. Saturday was a very nice sunny day filled with fun things to do. We spent some time talking then off to the store to shop a little then back for lunch. The ladies went to the shower and Jon and I spent some time together as we went to a music competition of Adam as he competed with the violin, it was fun to listen to some play their instruments. Adam received a score of 1 which allows him to go to state. Later on Saturday we went on a tour of St. Louis which was so enjoyable. Then we went out to eat to at a place called Red Robins to celebrate Rachel's birthday. Then back home to eat some Ice Cream Cake. On Sunday Morn we went to Cross Keys Baptist and I attended Jon's Sunday School class and really enjoyed it. Jon did a great job teaching. Karen went to the ladies class with Debbie and the girls went to their respective classes. After SS we attended the morning service and the Pastor preached from Hebrews 4 on the Piercing Power of the Word of God. The music was wonderful and the teaching practical. After church back to the Brun's for a great Sunday dinner, then we said good by and on the road to return home. Every time we are able to spend time with the Brun's we appreciate them so much more. We love them and have so much fun and true fellowship in the Lord with them. Their hospitality and attention to every detail while we were with them was well beyond the cal of duty. We felt just like we were home. Not only has the Lord brought two young people together but He has brought two entire families together.
While we were in the morning church service the announcement of the young Pastor Fred Winters being shot was given. Cross Keys Baptist is only about 20 miles from the church where this happened. Many in the church knew this young pastor. The music pastor had just attended a funeral with Pastor Winters on Thursday. May I encourage each of you readers today to pray for this pastors family and of course the church. We live in very serious days and it is time for His church to shine like never before.
I am thankful to the staff and leaders of Liberty who 'Held The Fort" and I heard great things about yesterdays services. We missed being at Liberty yesterday but were thankful for the weekend as it allowed us a little rest and reflection. Have a great week.
HOT? COLD? LUKEWARM?
March 5, 2009
Good day to each of you bloggers today! I just keep hearing from new readers weekly. There are many folk reading our blog that we don't know about. It is always a blessing to me to hear from folk letting us know they check in on us daily. Many say it is a connection they enjoy having and it keeps them up with our life and ministry and that our thoughts help them in their walk with the Lord. It does take time but if it helps in these ways then it is worth the effort. Tonight at Liberty I will teach our final lesson on the 7 churches of Revelation. We will look at the Church of Laodecia. As many of you know this is the LUKEWARM CHURCH! As I was preparing for the lesson I made a new decision to be HOT in my Christian walk. I so much want to bring honor to Jesus with my life, don't you? Lukewarmness is so unpleasing to the Lord and so unproductive in His church. We should avoid Lukewarmness with all the zeal we can muster. Mediocrity, Apathy, Average , all are terms I desire not to be terms used for my walk with God. Hope to see many of you at church this evening.
This weekend I have asked Pastor Ryan to preach for me as I have been led of the Lord to take several weeks off from preaching. He will be speaking on "Raising Modern Day Joseph's." I am praying for every Mother, Daughter, Grandparent, Children's Worker, Aunt, Uncle, Teacher, Preacher, Youth Worker, Bus Worker, Nursery Worker, Neighbor of Families with Children, Employer of Fathers, Mothers, Grandparents, School Principals, Councilor's, Boy Scout Leaders, Girl Scout Leaders, Coaches, absolutely everyone to be here and learn and listen to God's word on this important subject. We must change our minds on how to influence the next generation. Pray for Pastor Ryan as he prepares for the message and as he prepares himself to be able to preach in the power of the Holy Spirit.
My day is very full today. I started out at 7 a.m. with first appointment and at 8 had my second appointment. Now I am blogging. I have 4 more appointment's then many other tasks before church tonight. Please pray for me today I sure will appreciate it.
LISTEN TO FATHERS VOICE NOT THE MEDIAS VOICE
March 3, 2009
It is a beautiful day here in Northeast Indiana. It is still real cold as this morning was around 10 degrees at my house. It is to warm up to a whopping 35 degrees. The good news is it will be in the 50s on Friday. Even though it is cold it is clear and sunny. That sure makes a difference. As I drove my 5 miles to the office today I wondered at God's great creation. What wonderful glory and beauty all around us and much of the time we miss it and focus on the things man makes. I saw the Dow took another nose dive yesterday as it has the last several days, adding to the loss over the last several months . It has lost over 7,000 points in 6 months or so. Now it seems fear is sitting in and no longer just the word recession is being used but the scary word DEPRESSION is finally being used. As I was looking at God's creation this morning I was reminded our Lord is on the Throne and He hasn't lost a thing. And for those of us who trust in Him we haven't lost a thing that lasts for eternity either. Dr. Adrian Rogers said " You see how rich you are when you add up everything you have that money can"t buy and death can"t take away." Amen to that!!! We need to listen more to the Fathers voice than to the medias voice. Turn off the earthly news and turn on the heavenly news. The forecast is much brighter and better ! We don't have to have money to love or be loved. We don't have to have money to enjoy God's creation, to take a breath, to pray a prayer, to win a soul for Jesus. We don't have to have cash to praise the Lord, or to think a positive thought. No coins needed to park awhile and meditate on our great God. It doesn't take a penny to take a walk with your mate and pray awhile doing it. It is Free to read your Bible and oh how Free it will make you in life.
Make sure you are praying for Betty Richey today, she is having surgery this morning at 10:30 a.m. Also pray for Larry Brooks. He has been having some better days lately and we believe that is linked to prayers for him. Pray for Olin Jones today in rehab in Ft. Wayne, Pastor Chas is going to visit him today. Ruby Wright has been ill, along with Jack Bolden. Chris Clevenger, Lee Parker, Judy Smith, Adel Shinholt and many others are in need of prayers for their health. Take some time right now lifting these and others that you know need our prayer support.
I have been "WAITING" on the Lord the last several days { thanks Chuck Binkert for singing that song Sunday mornig} for leadership from the Lord concerning our preaching emphasis in the next few months. At this time it seems the Lord would have me preach 4 messages at Easter season on " Christ's Cross & Our Cross" and "Christ Resurrection & Our Resurrection" , Then we will begin a series of messages on " God's Promises & God's Names" . Also we will preach several messages on " Two Sons and a Father", looking at the Prodigal son and the Elder son and of course the Father. Then we will preach a short series on "Heavenly Reasons for Earthly Endurance". This will take us into the summer at least. It pays to wait on the Lord. His will is what we desire . Wont be long till all This is over and all That will begin, and all that will never end. AMEN! Have a great day!
First Monday of March
March 2, 2009
Well it is the first Monday of March. Still cold here in Indiana but just knowing that spring will be here in a few weeks makes it a little easier. For me it has been a long winter. We had good services yesterday as Pastor Chas preached a great message in the morning services. If you missed get the CD or go to www.libertyfamily.org and listen online. In my estimation it is worth listening to several times. Last evening in church Missionary Randy Ashcraft preached and agin it was great. He brought a young fellow from Mexico { Adrian} who was discipled in Randy's church . As Adrian shared his testimony our hearts were moved just to see what the Lord was doing in many lives in that area and church. PTL we help support this ministry with our prayers and finances. We took up offering for Randy at the end of the service in the amount of $ 666 . Randy asked if we could give it to Adrian as he was needing to raise money for a car so he could begin going out on deputation as he has been called to missions work himself. As Randy asked me that I shared that as I was listening to both of them that I had thought about taking up an offering for both of them but was unsure if Randy would want me to do so because sometimes missionaries prefer you not to do that with the national. So as Randy asked me if this would be OK I of course said I thought that was a great idea. Randy & Adrian will be with us again this Thursday eve as they will speak to our YAMS group. Yesterday morning we had a young man who is in his mid 20s that received the Lord as his personal saviour. He came back to church last eve and sat in the front row. PTL. He is to meet with me this week so we can speak to him concerning baptism and how he can grow in the Lord. His name is Nathan, so please pray for his continued growth in the Lord. PTL there is one more name written in the Lamb's Book of Life for all eternity. Yesterday our attendance was really down and I have been checking in on some and it seems there are many of our people who have this terrible flu. Please pray for the many who are sick at this time.
I have received several comments on reading the blog and that they have to scroll to the right to read the blog. I reported this problem was solved and then several made comments it wasn't solved yet. We again checked with our ISP {Internet Service Provider} and they told us it was fixed there but it may take up to a week for all our readers to see the reality of that. The reason is each of your individual ISP make updates at different times. It is a little complicated for me to explain but in time each of your servers will correct it and as you read our blog it should be back to normal.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!!
