THE LORD'S TRIUMPHANT ENTRY!

March 28, 2025 by Terry Bishir

This past Sunday evening at Liberty Baptist Church we spoke from Matthew 21:1-22. Four great themes are found in these verses. First, we find the record of Jesus' Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem as KING!  We compared Matthew 21:1- 11 with Zechariah 9: 9-10 and Jeremiah 7 and found 13 reasons that Jesus was the Legitimate King who deserved a coronation on that particular day just 8 days before He was to be crowned with a crucifixion. Secondly, we looked at Matthew 21:12-13 As Jesus went into the Temple and was very angry with the religious leaders for how they had allowed the people to turn into what He said was a Den of Thieves. His anger was a righteous indignation. A Holy wrath, totally controlled and with a motive of love. He certainly stirred things up. They asked who did he think he was to do such a thing and the answer was clear. HE was the Lord of the Temple, in fact He was the TEMPLE. Thirdly, we looked at verses 14 - 19 as Jesus cursed the Fig Tree which was not producing fruit. It looked so green and so healthy yet it did not have one fig on the tree.  How convicting those verses became to each of us as we certainly don't want cursed but blessed. Fourthly, we looked at verses 20 - 22 and thought about faith and trust and how we as believers are to be trusting together as a people of God.

God's Word is so powerful and practical. There was so much truth packed into these 22 verses that I would like to encourage you to listen again or for the first time to the message online here at www.libertyfamily.org. I think it would help you as we enter the next three weeks before Easter.

If you attend Liberty let me encourage you to invite, invite, and invite to church  everyone you can over the next few weeks. It is a great time of year to do so. Perhaps the best. And then pray, pray and pray some more for people to come and hear the gospel and respond in repentance and faith to His Good-news. If you attend elsewhere I encourage you to do the same where you live and where you attend church.

God Bless your Week!

July 28, 2015 - 2000 Versus 7!

Seems to me that as I study the holy scriptures and the history of man I find the same problem that continually travels in circles of repetition. I see those movements that are raised up by God and built on His Words found in the scripture. And I find movements that question God's Word that eventually bring the first movement to an end. This played out in Israel as God's p...

June 16, 2015 - Being a Friend, Brings Friends

The Bible teaches us over and over that " Jesus is aFRIENDthat sticketh closer than a brother"! Like the song says, No One Ever Cared For Me Like Jesus! He is a true friend. He was even a friend to the end for the disloyal and betraying Judas ( Matthew 26:50). Even while being betrayed He called Judas "friend". Jesus was and is a friend of sinners! Jesus declared that Laza...

Today is as bright as the promises of god!Our days are filled with good things and bad. If you are like me your emotions often attempt to turn your day into DARK One instead of a light one! If we forget god's promises, we will often only endure the day instead of enjoy the day. A lost day is one of life's great losses. may i suggest several promises from god that will help...

June 1, 2015 - Marriage, God's Way

Yesterday at Liberty we preached from Matthew 19:1-12 on Marriage and Singleness. Also we taught about Divorce and what Jesus said about it. In preparation for the messages I was so very aware that most everyone I would speak to have been affected in some way with divorce. Either directly or indirectly. It was my goal to represent truthfully God's Word and at the same time...

May 4, 2015 - Well Done Thou Good and Faithful Mother

I am so thankful that our nations families, churches and institutions still observe yearly a special day to honor Mothers. . The Bible reminds us of the possibility of a generation and society that does not do that. Proverbs 30:11, "There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother." We each understand that there is no perfect mother because ...

April 24, 2015 - Man's Traditions Vs. God's Teachings

In Mathew 15:1-20 we find Jesus being confronted by the Scribes and Pharisees from Jerusalem. They question His allowing His disciples to " Eat before washing their hands". That seems like a pretty small issue in the scope of all the other big issues of life they were faced with in leading the Jews. But that was their main concern and important question they wanted an answ...
