March 23, 2015 - Monday Morning Report

We had good services this past weekend at Liberty Baptist Church.  We spoke from Matthew 21:1-22. Four great themes are found in these verses. First, we find the record of Jesus' Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem as KING!  We compared Matthew 21:1- 11 with Zechariah 9: 9-10 and Jeremiah 7 and found 13 reasons that Jesus was the Legitimate King who deserved a coronation on that particular day just 8 days before He was to be crowned with a crucifixion. Secondly, we looked at Matthew 21:12-13 As Jesus went into the Temple and was very angry with the religious leaders for how they had allowed the people to turn into what He said was a Den of Thieves. His anger was a righteous indignation. A Holy wrath, totally controlled and with a motive of love. He certainly stirred things up. They asked who did he think he was to do such a thing and the answer was clear. HE was the Lord of the Temple, in fact He was the TEMPLE. Thirdly, we looked at verses 14 - 19 as Jesus cursed the Fig Tree which was not producing fruit. It looked so green and so healthy yet it did not have one fig on the tree.  How convicting those verses became to each of us as we certainly don't want cursed but blessed. Fourthly, we looked at verses 20 - 22 and thought about faith and trust and how we as believers are to be trusting together as a people of God.

God's Word is so powerful and practical. There was so much truth packed into these 22 verses that I would like to encourage you to listen again or for the first time to the message online here at www.libertyfamily.org. I think it would help you as we enter the two weeks before Easter. This coming Sunday ( Palm Sunday) we will study Matthew 26-27  and the theme being the Cross. And of course on Easter Morning we will look at Matthew 28 and focus on the Resurrection of our Lord! I love this season of the year and of course I love studying and teaching on the CENTER PIECE of HISTORY - THE CROSS of CHRIST!

If you attend Liberty let me encourage you to invite, invite, and invite to church  everyone you can over the next few weeks. It is a great time of year to do so. Perhaps the best. And then pray, pray and pray some more for people to come and hear the gospel and respond in repentance and faith to His Good-news. If you attend elsewhere I encourage you to do the same where you live and where you attend church.

God Bless your Week!
